The City of Chelsea, Mass., has amended its property registration ordinance to now cover all vacancies (previously focused on foreclosure properties). Registration will be required within 30 days of vacancy and will adhere to the following annual fee structure:
Residential
- Initial Registration: $200
- First Renewal: $500
- Second Renewal: $1,000
- Subsequent Renewals: $3,000
Commercial
- Initial Registration: $500
- First Renewal: $1,000
- Second Renewal: $2,000
- Subsequent Renewals: $3,000
Newark, NJ
The City of Newark, N.J., is now enforcing its property registration program through a third-party service (Pro-Champs). Following the guidelines established in its 2015 ordinance, registration is required within 30 days of vacancy.
Rensselaer, NY
The City of Rensselaer, N.Y., has amended its property registration ordinance to reflect the following fee increase structure:
- Initial Registration: $1,000
- First Renewal: $1,500
- Subsequent Renewals: $2,500
