VPR Ordinance Enacted in Countryside

The City of Countryside, Ill., enacted vacant property registration requirements on December 12, 2018. The ordinance requires registration within 10 days of any mortgage declared to be in default on a semi-annual basis.

VPR Ordinance Enacted in Perry

The Village of Perry, Ohio, enacted vacant property registration requirements on September 13, 2018. The ordinance requires registration no later than 90 days after a building becomes unoccupied or within 30 days of a building owner being notified by village government based on evidence of vacancy.

VPR Ordinance Enacted in Bennington

The Town of Bennington, Vt., has enacted vacant property registration requirements. The ordinance requires registration within 60 days of a building becoming vacant (as defined by the Town).

Rockford Continues to Explore VPR Program

The City of Rockford, Ill., continues to take steps towards creating a vacant and foreclosed property registry. A discussion has been scheduled to take place during the City's Code and Regulation meeting on January 7, with a council vote to follow on January 14.
