The City of Wilmington, Del., has advanced proposed changes to its municipal housing code, which features several amendments to its vacant property registration program. Included is a registration fee increase for properties that remain vacant for more than three years and a registration requirement for buildings that are vacant for six consecutive months instead of 45 consecutive days. The legislation passed a Finance & Economic Development Committee vote on May 29, 2019.

North Hempstead, NY
The Town of North Hempstead, N.Y., is considering the creation of an abandoned property registry that would require banks and mortgage lenders to register properties that are caught in the foreclosure process and have fallen into disrepair. A public hearing for the proposed program has been scheduled for June 18, 2019.
